Safeguarding and Wellbeing
Safeguarding
At Trent, the safety, welfare and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority. We believe that safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we are committed to creating a safe, caring and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, respected and listened to.
At Trent, every child is known, valued and understood. We take pride in the strong relationships we build with our children and families, ensuring that every child feels safe, supported and has a trusted adult they can turn to.
Safeguarding and wellbeing are at the heart of everything we do. By working together as a school community, we ensure that every child feels a sense of belonging and is happy, safe and supported to thrive and reach their full potential.
You can raise any safeguarding concern via the school office or directly to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - safeguarding@trent.barnet.sch.uk

Wellbeing
The wellbeing of every child is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to creating a caring and supportive environment where every child feels safe, valued and listened to. As part of this, we continue to find thoughtful, age-appropriate ways to help children share their feelings, express their worries and seek support whenever they need it.
Did you know…?
Every classroom has a “What I Want My Teacher to Know” box, providing children with a simple and discreet way to share something that may be on their mind. Children can pop a note into the box at any time, and their teacher/TA will find a quiet, appropriate moment to check in with them.
We also recognise that not every child finds it easy to put their feelings into words. For younger children, or those who may feel unsure about writing something down, simply placing their name in the box is enough. This lets their teacher know they would welcome a little time to talk.
In addition, there is a wellbeing folder outside the Headteacher’s office. Children who would prefer to speak directly with the Headteacher can leave a note in the folder, and the Headteacher will make time to follow up with them personally.
These small but important opportunities help us ensure that every child knows their voice matters, their feelings are important, and there is always someone at Trent ready to listen.
In addition, we also have the very lovely Mrs Balducci, who is a trained mental health first aider, who children can request time to talk to through ‘Bubble Time’. There is a dedicated box for children to put their name in to request time with Mrs Balducci.
